The protest movement against Donald Trump is gaining steam, not to mention anger, vowing next week’s inauguration of the president-elect will be marked by a “seething rebellion,” the likes of which the city of Washington, D.C., has never seen.
Thousands are supposed to be taking to the streets, DisruptJ20 protest organizer David Thurston said, in a recent news conference.
But the intent isn’t peaceful; rather, tyrannical and violent.
“We want to shut down the inauguration,” Thurston said, Reuters reported. “We want to see a seething rebellion develop in this city and across the country.”
His goal is shared by others.
Also in Reuters was this statement, from “Festival of Resistance” anti-Trump protest organizer Legba Carrefour: “We are not in favor of a peaceful transition of power, and we need to stop it.”
Inauguration event-goers, be forewarned: the 27 protest groups coming together under the like-minded umbrella of stopping the rise of Trump have numerous permits. The National Park Service, in fact, said they’ve handed out more than four times the normal number for past inaugurations.
Security officials are on alert and preparing for possible clashes.
