Dershowitz: Obama’s Legacy Cements as One of Worst Foreign Policy President Ever

Alan Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor who also leans left on the political scale, came out hard against President Obama during a recent Fox News interview and said the White House commander-in-chief’s legacy would include the title of Worst Foreign Policy Leader in History – or, at least one of them.

That’s quite an accomplishment, given Jimmy Carter.

Remember how Carter bumbled and stumbled on the Iran hostage crisis, letting 52 U.S. diplomats and citizens stay in the hands of terroristic Tehran students for 444 days while he tried to talk them out of captivity? And then, how incoming President Ronald Reagan, who had vowed during his campaign race to take harsh action against Iran for the hostage situation once he was seated in the White House, was scarcely done with his swearing-in ceremony when the rogue nation released the Americans?

That was Carter’s albatross of international dealings.

But according to Dershowitz, Obama’s a far worse bungler on the foreign affairs front than Carter ever was.

“[History will paint Obama] as one of the worst foreign policy presidents ever,” he said, during an interview on Fox News reported by Real Clear Politics.

And there was more: “He called me into the Oval Office before the inauguration. he said he wanted my support and he told me he would always have Israel’s back. I didn’t realize what he meant: that he would have Israel’s back so he could stab them in the back,” Dershowitz said.

His comments come in reference to Obama’s order to the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations to stand down and abstain from a Security Council vote to demand Israel stop building in settlement zones – an abstention that allowed the vote to pass 14-0. Obama could’ve used America’s power to veto.

Dershowitz characterized Obama’s inaction as a betrayal.

“What he did was so nasty,” he said. “He pulled a bait and switch. He told the American public this is all about the settlements deep in the West Bank. And yet, he allowed he representative to the U.N. to abstain – which is really a vote for – a resolution that says the Jews can’t pray at the Western Wall, Jews can’t live in the Jewish Quarter [of Jerusalem] where they have lived for thousands of years.”

The outcome of Obama’s failure to veto?

“This will make peace much more difficult to achieve because the Palestinians will now say, ‘we can get a state through the U.N..'” Dershowitz said, Real Clear Politics reported.
